Regenerating the soil

• Implementation of complimentary crop designs with 14 different species.
• Planting trees and using cover crops to promote water retention as well as fixing nitrogen and carbon into the soil.
• Use of grass as a cover crop and for weed control strategy.
• Planting green hedges, agave and native trees as soil erosion barriers and biomass producers.

Improving biodiversity

• At least 15% of our agaves are non-Espadin species, and we will allow 5% of them to bloom to promote genetic diversity and natural recollection of seeds.
• Support smallholder farmers to establish local seed banks and plant complementary crops on their plots, to promote natural restoration of endemic species.
Reduce water and soil pollution

• We use biofertilizers to produce organic nutrition for the plants with the purpose of nourishing the soil and substitute synthetic chemical pesticides

Economic & Income

• Improve family’s economy through increased production and diversification, through improved income via complementary crops as well as fair and consistent agave prices
• Improve workers income stability by having mid to long term contracts to ensure payment security while also paying above market salaries that cover all transportation, meals, and accommodations
Nutrition

• Support food and nutritional security with complementary crops through trainings for women on establishing family vegetable gardens and providing animals for production and consumption
Social Development

• Strengthen community organizations to develop social capital through implementing women’s leadership workshops for the recognition and visibility of their contributions. As well as communal savings bank account with the purpose of promoting financial education
